11-Day Gorillas in Uganda & Serengeti in Tanzania

Two of East Africa's amazing highlight within one safari; the mountain gorillas of Uganda combined with the great plains of Serengeti in Tanzania. In Uganda you trek the gorillas but also go for a boat-cruise on Kazinga channel, chimps trekking in Kalinzu forest and a village walk to a beautiful crater lake. When crossing over to Tanzania we have the highlights of Serengeti and Ngorongoro where we go searching for "the big 5" but also visit a Masai village. Fly in to Entebbe and out from Arusha.

  • Day1 - 2
    We meet our tour guide at Entebbe international airport and transfer to the hotel in Entebbe. Here you can relax and get ready for the adventure of your Gorillas & Serengeti safari starting the next day. If you arrive during daytime you can enjoy the botanical garden or zoo (not included in the price).

  • Day2 - 3
    Meet your guide and start off early from Entebbe for the journey to the home of the mountain gorillas. Be prepared for a long day in the car. Along the way you will make a stop by the equator for some photos and have lunch in Masaka or Mbarara depending on the time. Continue on to to Bwindi mountain Gorillas through the neck of the impenetrable forest. The journey offers some great views.

  • Day3 - 4
    Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the home to the forest giants that are cousins to human beings, the gorillas. Have an early breakfast before setting off for your gorilla trekking adventure with a specialized guide. Besides the gorillas this Impenetrable Forest is full of birds, butterflies and plant species plus forest hog, forest elephants, statungas and dikers. Enjoy the walk through the forest and spend one hour around the gorillas. After the gorilla trek your guide picks you and depending on the time you are back from trekking you drive to Queen Elizabeth national park. The aim is to spend the night at the edge of Queen Elizabeth national park, with an exciting drive there with chance of seeing baboons and other monkeys along the way as well as a the chance of spotting elephants from the lodge.

  • Day4 - 5
    We start the day with a village walk after breakfast. This walk takes you through the nearby village, walking through the plantations up to a beautiful crater lake. After lunch at the lodge we get ready for the Classic highlights on the 2hrs Boat cruise on the famous Kazinga channel. A 36kms long natural channel linking Lake George and Lake Edward. Here we can expect to see land and water Adapted Hippopotamuses Yawning and some slashing canines to each other and the National Geographical society Killing machine the Nile Crocodile gaping along the Banks! Savannah version of Pigs the Warthog- Pumba of the award winning Lion King are a hallmark sign in this Animal home! Of Mamaland Uganda. We finish the day off with a game-drive out of the park seeing what we can tick off before the sunsets.

  • Day5 - 6
    Start the day with chimps trekking in Kalinzu forest. Here you go with a specialized guide into the forest to meet our close relatives the chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Enjoy the excitement of walking in the jungle and hopefully get great sightings. After the trek we start the journey towards Tanzania having lunch along the way to then cross the border and reach the town of Bukoba where we are to spend the night.

  • Day6 - 7
    The aim this day is to drive southwards through Tanzania as we continue our journey in the second country of this East Africa safari. Enjoy the countryside passing by the windows as we make our journey onwards. We spend the night in Chatto to break the journey towards Serengeti.

  • Day7 - 8
    We continue our journey in Tanzania and by the end of the day we have reached close to Serengeti where we spend the night so that tomorrow drive we have a very short drive to enter. Have a relaxed evening to be ready for tomorrows highlight of exploring Serengeti.

  • Day8 - 9
    Today we enter the Serengeti National Park from the less visited western gate, and you will marvel at the multitude of animal and bird life while journeying through this acacia-spotted savannah. Game sightings abound. We arrive at the in time to enjoy a respite from the dirt roads and heat of the day and enjoy a hearty lunch. Later on in the afternoon, as the animal kingdom comes alive, continue your search for the “Big 5″ – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino – while taking in the vastness of the Serengeti plains heading for the lodge as the sun sets on this magnificent animal kingdom.

  • Day9 - 10
    After an early rise spend the morning exploring the vast Serengeti and we move from location to location in search of sometimes elusive game and visit a waterhole known for its Hippos and alligators. Visit the Masai Kopjes, airstrip area and then back to the heart of Serengeti.

  • Day10 - 11
    After an easy early rise we head towards Ngorongoro Crater, cited as ‘Africa’s Eden’ and the ’8th Natural Wonder of the World’. The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder referred to as the world’s biggest wildlife zoo, due to its high density of resident game. In the afternoon we descend to the crater floor where you will be amazed by the sheer number and diversity of animals and birdlife. Standing in our pop up safari vehicle the viewing opportunities are endless, just deciding which way to look and what to look at, the choices are unlimited. The sheer excitement as we spot any of the big 5. Tonight as we relax we reflect on what has been a truly remarkable journey like no other experience and marvel in the wonders of the amazing wildlife East Africa has to offer.

  • Day11 - 12
    In the morning we make the drive to Arusha or Kilimanjaro where you are dropped off as we have reached the end of your safari adventure. Here you can plan to catch a flight on to other adventures or back to your home country full of memories to marvel over for a long time.
