7 Days Rongai Kilimanjaro Route Mt Kilimanjaro Trekking Africa Climb. This Rongai way holds a sense of unchanged wilderness and bids a different viewpoint on Kilimanjaro by accessing it from the north. Experienced guides reflect the Rongai path to be both easier and more attractive than the Marangu Trail. Peak attempts start in the pre-dawn hours, with mountaineers usually getting to Gillman’s Point at sunrise. For the climbers who will be strong enough, around three hours of journey will take you from Gillman’s Point to Uhuru Summit

Day1 - 2
Rongai Gate (1950m) – 1st Caves Camp (2600m)
Altitude: 6,398 ft to 9,300 ft Distance: 8 km Trekking Time: 3-4 hours Habitation: Rain Forest All formalities having taken place at the Marangu park entrance with a drive of (approximately 2-hours) to the Rongai trailhead. Encounter both your guide as well as porters before you commence your trek from the Nale Moru village. The small zigzagging trail traverses maize fields before inflowing pine forest and there after hikes gradually over a forest. The path is not at all sheer but is rather a mild trek through good-looking country. Your first night’s camp is at First Cave, at around 2,600 meters. The camp consists of toilets as well as a wooden table with seats, but no hut. Water can be obtained just down the track below First Cave.
Day2 - 3

The sights begin to to be exposed and you will start to sense you’re on a really big mountain! Water at this level is found in the clear stream beneath the cave, despite that you might have to stroll downhill a way to find some. This day night will be at 3rd Cave camp (Kikelewa Caves).
Day3 - 4
Kikelewa Cave (3600) – Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4330m)
Altitude: 11,811 ft to 14,160 ft Distance: 5 km Trekking Time: 3-4 hours Habitation: Alpine Desert This will be a short hiking distance but sheer ascent up to grassy grades that bids outstanding sights of this wilderness area. The undergrowth region ends shortly before you arrive to your next camp at Mawenzi Tarn enormously located below the towering tips of Mawenzi. Spend the afternoon adjusting and discovering the area.
Day4 - 5
Mawenzi Tarn To Mawenzi Ridge
Altitude (ft.): 14,160 ft. -14,400 ft. Distance: 2 km Trekking Time: 1-2 hours Habitation: Alpine Desert Mawenzi Ridge to Mawenzi Tarn Altitude (ft): 14,400 ft -14,160 ft Distance: 2 km Trekking Time: 1-2 hours Habitation: Alpine Desert An additional day purposely for adaptation and this day can be spent climbing on Mawenzi Ridge. The exceptional scenery bids inspiring sights of Kibo and Mawenzi. After having a few minutes discovering the area we will get back to Mawenzi Tarn for camp
Day5 - 6
Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4330m) – Kibo Hut (
Altitude (ft): 14,160 ft to 15,430 ft Distance: 8 km Trekking Time: 5-6 hours Habitation: Alpine Desert We proceed mounting on the east side of Kibo overpass the saddle amidst Mawenzi and Kibo taking 4 to 5 hours to arrive at Kibo Hut. The rest time of this day is spent resting in order to get ready for the final climb, which starts around midnight. Overnight at Kibo Camp
Day6 - 7
Kibo Hut To Uhuru Peak To Horombo Hut.
Altitude (ft.): 15,430 ft. to 19,341 ft. Distance: 6 km Trekking Time: 6-8 hours Habitation: Arctic Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut Altitude (ft.): 19,341 ft. to 12,250 ft. Distance: 16 km Trekking Time: 4-5 hours Habitation: Heath Get out of sleep at midnight, and after a snack, continue to the roof of Africa over Gilman’s point (18,640ft). It is around 5-6 hours and 1-2 hours from Kibo hut to Gilman’s point and from Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Summit (19,340ft) correspondingly. You will get to arrive at the Mountain summit in the morning of the 5th day and start downward after picture taking on the summit to Horombo hut for dinner and an overnight after a short break at Kibo hut.
Day7 - 8
Horombo Hut To Marangu Gate – Arusha.
Altitude (ft): 12,205 ft to 6,046 ft Distance: 20 km Trekking Time: 5-7 hours Habitation: Rain Forest This day, we will have a long walk mostly downhill vie the tropical rain forest. Upon arrival at the park headquarters at Marangu entrance, we collect our summit certificates. The waiting vehicle will take us to Arusha, for your ongoing travel arrangements.
