Marangu Route

Arusha, Arusha Region, Tanzania

Product Photo Product Photo Product Photo

The Marangu way, also identified as the “Coca-Cola” route, is the eldest, most deep-rooted route on Kilimanjaro. This is the only way which provides slumbering huts in residence style lodgings in lieu of camping. There are 60 bunk beds each at Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 bunk beds at Horombo Hut. Visitors are abounding with mattresses and pillows, but slumbering bags are still obligatory. The huts have collective dining rooms and basic restrooms, extending from flushing toilets and running water at the inferior huts to long drop toilets and stacks of water at Kibo Hut.

Several favor Marangu because it is well-thought-out to be the calmest trail on the mountain, given its steady slant and direct trail. However, the short time frame of the path makes height adaptation fairly hard. The path approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the southeast. Marangu is unfortunately less picturesque than the other paths because the climb and descent are along the similar trail. It is also the most teeming path for that reason.

Top Kilimanjaro® provides Marangu as five or six-day private ascent. The five-day difference does not have an adaptation day on day three at Horombo Hut.
