Multi-activities in the Finnish Wilderness!

Hossa, Finland

We offer here a complete program to get to know with Finland and winter in the North.

Hossa is located in Eastern Finland, nearby the Russian border, on a land of forests, lakes and wooded hills. This is the wildest area in Europe, far from mass tourism and big resorts.

Get ready for a week of adventure including a snowmobile safari, a dogsledding safari, snowshoe hiking, ice fishing, a special hike with husky dogs or a reindeer farm visit. After this, you will relax during your free day, or practice one of our optional activities.

A “must-do” so you can cross it off from your bucket list!

Our basecamp is located in the heart of Hossa Park, 100km away from any village or shop. Our conception of tourism has nothing to do with mass tourism hubs like Rovaniemi, Ivalo or Kittila.

No Santa Claus Village with us! There are 23 inhabitants around Hossa and most of them are reindeer farmers. Indeed, there are more bears living up there than inhabitants!

We are living there in autonomy and are working in deep cooperation with the National Forrest Service which runs Hossa Park development.

Close-fitting articles of clothing: polypropylene, polyester, capilene, wool or silk baselayer thermals.

. Insulating / Middle Layer

Warm pull-over or fleece jacket.

Goretex, or a comparable ski jacket is strongly recommended for this layer for its excellent water and wind resistant properties.

You will need the following:

Waterproof shoes, winter hiking shoes, sports shoes or snow boots (for evening wear)

Woolen socks

Warm winter jacket (ski jacket or down jacket)

Ski trousers or ski overalls

Warm pull-overs or fleece jackets

1 dogsledding day, 1 snowmobiling days, 1 snowshoeing day, 1 trapper and 1 hike with dogs.

This is a multiactivity-discovery trip. Thanks to this day-activity formula, you discover every day a new discipline and new forms of travel. The activities are sporty but perfect for beginners and you go back to your comfortable hostel basecamp every night.

All of our routes are drawn by our team and are exclusively reserved for your practice.

- 1 dogsledding day, duo driving : 2 persons on each sled

The activity is led by specialized mushers.

Your dog team is composed with 6 to 10 dogs. You share your sled and lead your dog team together with another person from the group. Both of you drive successively.

Group size: up to 10 persons

- 1 snowmobiing day, duo driving : 2 persons on each snowmobile

The activity is led by arctic specialized guides.

You share your snowmobile with another person from the group and drive successively.

Group size: up to 10 persons

Our vision of snowmobile is more “practical” than “mechanical”. This form of travel is only used for a full discovery of the park : it allows the group to go further and see other interest points. Therefore, this snowmobiling practice is not aimed at “performing” fast and dangerously.

- 1 hike with dogs

The form of travel used for this activity is once again snowshoes. But this time, you go along with a sled dog, which is harnessed and hooked on your trek-belt.

Hiking with dog is a new form of travel that you discover here and is very different form normal hiking: this experience provides you a lot of energy thanks to our dogs full of ardor.

Group size : up to 12 persons

- 1 free day, multiple-choice about the activity/form of travel:

During the week, one day without any activity is planned. This is the opportunity for you to choose the activity you like most during the week and practice it once again (subject to availability, on site).

This is also the opportunity for you to rest and relax, enjoying sauna or finishing homework for your children, before being back to reality !
